Orlando – Christmas and New Year 2024/2025
Planning a trip to Orlando can feel like an exciting yet daunting prospect as there are a myriad of attractions and hotels to choose from. For many, it’s a one-off trip of a lifetime so there can be a lot of pressure to get it right. I took the family to Orlando for 2 weeks and spent a lot of time researching where to stay and what to do.

Tenerife – Autumn Half Term 2024
Tenerife is a brilliant option when you want some sun and warmth during the colder months in the UK. I particularly like going at Easter or October Half Term because it’s warmer than other Mediterranean destinations and you can still enjoy the pools and water parks on offer. There is lots to do around the island. The huge national park and volcano Mont Tiede offers lots of exciting outdoor pursuits for the energetic as does the world-renowned Siam Park water park. Or you may prefer to just relax by the pool….
Euro 2024 in Germany
This was a spur of the moment decision to go on a short break to Germany and take in England’s round of 16 against Slovakia. We stayed in Dusseldorf which was a surprisingly vibrant city with pleasant parks and vibrant restaurant and night life scene. I work with several sports tour operators who can package match tickets with flights and accommodation. So if you have a burning desire to do some sports tourism as part of your next trip then I’d love to talk to you about it!
Cannes – May Half Term 2024
Despite living on the French Riviera for 7 years, we have only ever visited Cannes on a boat trip so we decided it was time to pack our bags and take in the movie star vibe just after the Cannes film festival. Cannes is probably the closest example of a holiday ‘resort’ on the French Riviera. It is a compact town crammed with hotels, a beautiful sandy beach with clubs to match and an atmospheric Old Town which buzzes every evening. One of the best things to do here is take a boat trip to the Cannes Islands or Iles de Lerins. The Islands are beautiful and unspoilt and have a fascinating back story which can be found at the Royal Fort.
Nice – Christmas 2023 & Easter 2024
We always love a trip to Nice! It’s only a 2 hour plane trip and Nice airport is so convenient making it a great short break destination or longer if you want to explore the French Riviera. I’ve never met a person yet who doesn’t like Nice and the French Riviera! From Monaco to St. Tropez there is something for everyone along the sparkling blue coastline. With regular flights from the UK, you can visit at any time of the year too. although if you do decide to come in winter, then I’d recommend staying within Nice as some of the other smaller towns can get a little too quiet.
Dubai November 2022 and Easter 2023
I do like big sporting events and there is none bigger than the World Cup. With the tournament held in Qatar being scheduled in the winter rather than summer, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to combine sport watching with a true winter sun holiday in Dubai. And to celebrate the end of Covid travel disruption I decided to splash the cash and stay at the Atlantis resort on the Dubai Palm. Accommodation was at a massive scarcity in Qatar so I opted to take advantage of the world class facilities in Dubai and commute via air to the games. It worked out really well if a little tiring! We enjoyed the resort so much that we went back the following Easter having had another miserable and cold UK winter.
Gstaad, Switzerland – February Half Term 2022
We’ve been on several ski holidays to France as a family so wanted to try a slightly different resort experience. Most ski resorts are not easy to get to unless you are lucky enough to have the funds to charter a helicopter! But Gstaad is one of the easiest thanks to a train service operating regularly from the airport terminal at Geneva. Pandemic pricing enabled us to take advantage of a bargain week at the Ermitage Wellness & Spa Hotel! What a treat, the facilities were top notch, and we particularly enjoyed the heated outdoor pool and spa pools in between the snow drifts.
